Ukrainian band Antitila and British singer Ed Sheeran presented a joint song. The premiere of the video called “2Step / Sirens interrupted our sleep” “took place on May 2.
All proceeds will go to help Ukraine.
After the start of a full-scale Russian invasion, the Antibodies ceased their musical activities and joined the Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces in full force.
“Ed feels pain, sympathy and sympathy for the Ukrainian people,” Antibody frontman Taras Topol told the BBC.
According to him, the lyrics were written while he was serving in Borodyanka.
The Borodyanka urban-type settlement northwest of Kyiv was badly damaged during the war with Russia. The enemy fired at him from planes, tanks and artillery, killing and torturing locals. On April 1, the Ukrainian army released Borodyanka.
Topolya also said that part of the dubbing for the video was shot in Kharkiv, where he now serves with other members of the band.
“We just stopped in the middle of the road and sang in the wilderness.”
At the end of March, Antibody learned of Ed Sheeran’s charity concert and offered to build a teleconference with Kyiv.
The video of Ukrainian musicians, recorded during the duty in the defense, went viral. However, the organizers of the concert, at which Shiran performed, rejected the offer due to the Ukrainian band’s connection with the military, Topol said, so Shiran’s team offered direct cooperation with the band.
“I am very glad that the famous singer supports Ukrainians,” says Topolya. “This has already raised awareness about the situation in Ukraine, and this process is ongoing.”
“Ed Sheeran, his team and others understand that we need help and support to survive and win. And I’m very grateful for that.”
The band members said they had temporarily given up music to help on the front line.
“When your house is in danger, you have to protect it. You have to do something,” Poplar said.
He also thanked the British for their support and called for a discussion on how this war happened.
“I want people in the UK to hear my words. We need to talk about the causes of the war, not just the consequences,” he said.
