In order to preserve the lives and health of its employees and their safety during enemy shelling , the Metinvest Mining and Metallurgical Group is carrying out the process of mothballing the Avdeevka Coke and Chemical Plant (AKHZ), which is part of the group.

This is stated in a press release from the company on Wednesday, May 4.

It is noted that the company has minimized the number of personnel working at the industrial sites of the plant.

“Everyone who can work remotely was transferred to a remote mode in early March. However, specialists continue to work to ensure the safety of the industrial facilities of the AKHZ during the period of hostilities. Most of them, unfortunately, ended up under enemy fire on May 3 after a work shift “The invaders’ attack was fast and targeted. The company’s specialists did not even have time to return to the plant’s bomb shelters, which today have become a shelter for employees and residents of Avdiivka,” the company’s information states.

At the same time, it is noted that currently there are seven shelters at the plant that can accommodate 2.5 thousand people. Shelters are supplied with generators, medicines, drinking water and food in a volume sufficient for a long stay.

In addition, it is emphasized that the administration of the AKHZ systematically conducts information and explanatory work for employees. Reminds you of the timely response to danger and the rules that will help save lives, in particular, use cover on the territory of an enterprise or city during shelling.

“Despite the difficult logistics and enemy shelling, the Metinvest group is ready to evacuate all employees and members of their families who wish to leave the dangerous place,” the press release says.

Recall, on May 3, the Russian military attacked Avdiivka, killing 12 people and at least 15 injured. The invaders launched air strikes on the central part of the city, and then on the coke plant.
