Denisova said that a million Ukrainians had already been deported to Russia, including 182,000 children.
The Russian invaders have already deported to the Russian Federation about 1 million Ukrainians, of which 182 thousand are children.
This was stated by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova in an interview with Blick .
“Currently, about one million Ukrainians have been deported to Russia. Of these, 182,000 are children. They are distributed throughout Russia, especially in poor regions, to help develop the economy,” Denisova said.
According to the Ombudsman, in the filtration camps on the territory of the Russian Federation, Ukrainians are being asked, in particular, about how they feel about the “Russian mission” in Ukraine.
“If they don’t like the answer, then they check the documents – if they have any at all – and search on their mobile phone. Such people are taken to remote regions, others may stay near Ukraine,” Denisova said.
At the same time, Putin uses the Ukrainians who were taken to Russia for propaganda purposes, arguing that these people were supposedly forced to flee Ukraine, and he had to protect them.
Denisova also said that some Ukrainians are already returning to their homes, primarily due to the lack of earnings, food and support – there are already about 1.1 million such people, mainly from the Kyiv region.
At the same time, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada criticized the work of the Geneva-based International Committee of the Red Cross, which previously opened its office in the Rostov region in the south of the Russian Federation. Denisova noted that the ICRC’s main task should be to register refugees and support their return to Ukraine. In addition, many refugees also complain that the Red Cross “only gives them pita bread and instant spaghetti.”
Denisova also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, are developing a solution that will allow Ukrainians forcibly taken to the Russian Federation to receive views in foreign consulates in the territory of the Russian Federation.
