The dog Almaz helps the sappers to detect mines. “The dog is not heavy, in order for a mine to explode, more than 120 kilograms of weight is needed, so the dog will pass, find it, sit down. He helps us a lot, but in such conditions as this field the dog gets tired very quickly. Dust, and it is better for him to look for explosives in the premises, ”the sappers explain.

In total, they found 208 anti-tank mines in this field. “The mines are defined as unusable, we see mechanical damage, so we will destroy them in the future. There are no suitable ones here, ”explains the commander of the demining group with a smile.

All these mines were collected dozens or even several meters from residential buildings. This is the village of Kalinovka, a suburb of Brovary. Near the Chernigov-Kyiv highway, where in early March 72 a separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Cossacks and the Kiev division of “Azov” dealt a crushing blow to the invaders and stopped their column. The enemy could not go any further. For several weeks there was a positional war here: with artillery duels and the work of saboteurs. But when the Russians were actually encircled on the right bank, the invaders realized that they had to retreat from here.

“They started doing what they do very, very well: with the local population – this is murder, rape, looting. And in order to provide themselves with more or less comfortable escape conditions, they bypassed everything that could be replaced, ”the military explains.

In total, more than 27 thousand explosive objects have already been neutralized in the Kyiv region. The demining of this area is already being completed by the sappers. In some places, it remains only to collect mines, so that later they can be neutralized away from the yards.

But the Ukrainians demonstrate how unconquered and invincible they are – while anti-tank mines have not yet been collected in the minefield, farmers, on both sides of it, have already planted beets. Each holds the defense on his front.
