As it became known at the end of April, Apple planned to transfer an impressive share of the iPhone 14 to displays manufactured by the Chinese BOE, which has invested a lot of effort to achieve the required quality standards. Now, this contract for 50 million OLED panels has become a big question mark. According to the South Korean edition of The Elec, Apple unexpectedly discovered that BOE arbitrarily simplified the design of OLED panels for the iPhone 13. This was done in order to maintain the pace of production in an environment of increased demand. Upon learning of this, Apple began to cut BOE’s share of the display supply chain by redirecting components to LG factories. It is assumed that Apple will not abandon BOE services, but the initial goal of 40 million panels in 2022 BOE will most likely not reach.
