On Wednesday, May 4, the European Commission presents the sixth package of sanctions against Russia for military aggression against Ukraine.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Europe wants Ukraine to win the war.
The head of the European Commission announced this during a speech in the European Parliament on Wednesday, May 4.
The sixth package of sanctions, which includes:
- High-ranking military and other persons accused of committing war crimes in Bucha and responsible for the blockade of Mariupol.
- Disconnection from SWIFT of several more Russian banks. Among them, the largest Russian bank is Sberbank.
- Prohibition of state information broadcasters of the aggressor country.
- Phase-out of Russian oil.
“We will ensure that Russian oil supplies are phased out in an orderly manner so that we and our partners can provide alternative supply routes and minimize the impact on world markets. Therefore, we will gradually stop the supply of crude oil to Russia within six months, and products oil refining — before the end of the year,” von der Leyen said.

Recall that the representative of the Hungarian government Zoltan Kovacs said that his country would not support the EU embargo on imports of Russian oil and gas.
Meanwhile, Austria and Slovakia, who hesitated to support the embargo on Russian oil, withdrew their veto.
