In recent days, the Russian army has begun using Oniks anti-ship cruise missiles against ground targets. In particular, on the objects of the Odessa region.
According to an American military analyst, this may indicate the absence of other types of long-range precision-guided munitions in Russia.
This assumption was made by a senior researcher at the US Center for Naval Analysis Michael Kofman.
“I’m interpreting this as a sign that they don’t have many other types of long-range missiles. It’s an expensive system to use in a secondary role,” Kofman said.
Recall, on May 3, the Russian Federation fired Onyx missiles from the Bastion complex from the occupied Crimea. As a result of a missile strike, a residential building in Odessa itself was destroyed. Subsequently, it became known about the death of a 15-year-old child , another minor was taken to the hospital with a wound.
After that, the Russian Defense Ministry published a video of the alleged launch of Onyx missiles, noting that they destroyed the hangars of the “logistics center at the military airfield of Ukraine.”
