President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported on how the rescue operation from Mariupol is going on.

He spoke about this in his traditional address on the night of May 6.

According to the President, with the assistance of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, over the past 24 hours, some people have been evacuated from the city blocked by Russian invaders. As long as they are on their way to safe territory.

“Already more than 150 people from Azovstal and more than 300 more people from Mariupol itself and the surrounding area, who left the humanitarian corridor this week, are receiving all the help that is now very much needed. Medical, restoration of documents, financial assistance, communication with relatives, with loved ones, with families,” Zelensky said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian leader stressed that the Russian shelling and assault on Azovstal did not stop, so it was necessary to take out, first of all, civilians – women and children. “Just imagine this hell! And there are children! More than two months of constant shelling, bombing, constant death nearby… We expect an effective regime of silence,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

Also, according to him, the search continues for a solution to save our military – “heroes who hold the defense of Mariupol against the prevailing number of invaders.”

“There are different divisions. They have many wounded. But they don’t give up. They are holding positions. We don’t give up either. Every day, the whole team is looking for an option that will ensure the safety of these people. And I’m grateful to everyone who helps. To everyone who offered mediation and is putting in their efforts so that Ukrainians can be saved,” the president stressed.

Recall that the Russian invaders continue to storm Azovstal in Mariupol. Ukrainian soldiers under heavy enemy fire hold the line.
