Counterintelligence of the SBU in the Ivano-Frankivsk region detained a member of the Ukrainian Choice party Viktor Medvedchuk.

He prepared the concept of “people’s autocracy” in case the Russians came and coordinated his actions with representatives of the Russian special services.

This was announced today, May 5, by the press service of the SBU in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

A resident of Kyiv, a former Soviet officer with combat experience, joined the party of Viktor Medvedchuk in 2015. He actively promoted in the public space anti-state pro-Russian narratives about “external control” and “one people”. Defended the need for the so-called. “democracy” and urged “to take power into their own hands.”

“He became active again on the eve of the Russian full-scale invasion. In case the Russians came, he had the concept of “people’s autocracy” ready. It provided for the seizure of power and a change in the foreign policy vector. , the economic system, international relations, land relations, as well as holding a “veche trial” over representatives of the authorities and the opposition,” the message says.

The detainee maintained constant contact with representatives of the Russian special services, in coordination with them he created, together with his like-minded people, an extensive network of fake public organizations on the territory of Ukraine. These organizations were used to plant anti-Ukrainian ideas, the future implementation of plans for a change of power, as well as to find appropriate funding.

During searches at the places of residence and registration of the defendant, SBU investigators seized:

  • documentation and seals of “public organizations”;
  • forbidden symbolism;
  • a letter from the administration of the President of the Russian Federation about the received appeal;
  • starter packs of a Russian mobile operator;
  • computer equipment, means of communication, rough notes with evidence of illegal activities.

Now the issue of declaring a defendant under suspicion under Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – actions aimed at forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order or at the seizure of state power.
