A resident of the city of Sarny, in the Rivne region, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for high treason and cooperation with Russian special services.
The man, professing pro-Russian views, even before the start of a large-scale invasion of the occupiers, established contact with a representative of the special services of the Russian Federation, and only after that he collected and transmitted to him data on the ways of moving the equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the location of military units.
This was announced today, May 5, in the press service of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
“In particular, at the request of his curators, on February 24, 2022, a resident of Sarni collected and provided information about the movement of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was moving from Sarny, and already on February 25, 2022, he reported about the equipment and weapons he discovered on the territory of one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine The enemy could use this information for further missile strikes on these objects,” the report says.
In addition, the man expressed his desire and readiness to lead the occupation authorities in the event that the Russians seize the territory of the Rivne region.
During the searches, 4 rounds of ammunition and two RGD-5 grenades with a fuse for them were confiscated from him, which he had acquired and kept without the permission provided for by law.
In court, the accused pleaded guilty.
On Thursday, May 5, the Sarny court punished the man with 12 years in prison.
