Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, suggested that new weapons for Ukraine from Western allies would be able to change the situation in certain areas of the front not earlier than the end of May.
Arestovich also said that it is likely that several American M777 howitzers are already “heroically shooting” somewhere in Ukraine, but this is not the number that can significantly affect the course of hostilities.
The adviser to the head of the OP spoke about this in a conversation with Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin.
“I think that a couple (M777 howitzers – ed.) already exist and are shooting heroically somewhere, but this is not the amount that can significantly affect the course of hostilities even on a specific section of lines or positions. There should be a lot of them on in a specific direction, so that they change something, dozens. There is nothing like this anywhere yet,” Arestovich said.
“The accumulation (by the Ukrainian troops of weapons – ed.) to significant results that can bring quantity into quality – I think – not earlier than the end of May, if not later at all. It varies from very many indicators. Therefore, I give a spread – from the end of May by mid-June to the end of June in commercial quantities that can change the situation on the battlefield in certain areas,” the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office added.
Recall, on May 5, President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, the provision of longer-range weapons to prevent the bombing of the civilian population of Ukraine.
