Russia’s consent to the evacuation of the civilian population from Mariupol Guterres received after a meeting with Putin.
Thanks to the UN operation, about 500 people were evacuated from Mariupol.
UN Secretary General António Guterres stated this, Ukrinform writes .
“To date, a total of about 500 civilians have received long-awaited relief – after living under continuous shelling and in conditions of lack of water, food and sanitation,” he said.
According to him, Guterres received Russia’s consent to the evacuation of the civilian population from Mariupol after a meeting with Putin on April 26, during which he raised this issue.
Recall that on May 5, a humanitarian convoy set off to Mariupol to evacuate people from Azovstal . A joint convoy of the UN and the Red Cross is due to arrive in the city on the morning of 6 May.
