Savva Stratelates died in Rome in 272. Considered an early Christian martyr who lived in the 3rd century. He came from a Gothic tribe. Savva was very brave, for which he quickly reached the high rank of governor-stratilates, and also served at the court of Emperor Aurelian. In his youth, he professed the Christian faith, prayed daily and kept all the commandments. Savva often helped the needy, the poor, came to the prison to support the prisoners. For his devotion, he received from the Lord the ability to work miracles, heal various diseases and cast out demons from people.
When the emperor recognized his Christian governor, he began to ask him to renounce the faith and take the side of paganism. Then Savva overthrew the military belt and said that he would never renounce Christianity. They tortured the martyr for a long time, but Savva endured all the tortures with dignity and strength. In 272 he was drowned in the Tiber River in Rome. 70 soldiers who saw his torment immediately believed in the Lord, for which they were also executed on the spot.
