While Russian troops are shelling peaceful Ukrainian cities, volunteers and doctors, risking their lives, are trying to save every life.
Yesterday, a wounded 9-year-old boy and a dog were delivered to the front-line hospital. The wound in the leg did not threaten the life and health of the child, and the soft tissues of the animal were pierced by three fragments, which, fortunately, did not remain in the body. Dr. Charles, a volunteer from America, who helps Ukrainian military surgeons in the frontline zone, undertook to operate on the dog.
Vladimir Demchenko shared a touching story of saving a dog named Ada on his Facebook page.
“The dog lay still all the time while it was examined with a magnet for fragments, while the paw was shaved for an IV, while it was anesthetized, sewn up and carried for an x-ray.
– I love you. So love! You’re a good girl, – Charles repeated every time the dog looked frightened at a bunch of people surrounding her from all sides.
– What is her name?
– Hell! Hell!
Ada, hearing the voice of the hostess, tried to break to her feet, but we held her back. Actually, there were at least two of us petting her all the time, soothing her, so the military surgeons who had already sent the boy to the main hospital joked that the dog thought he was already in dog heaven – so much attention.
But damn…when Charles finished his job and stroked her muzzle, she licked his hand gratefully. Only him! Charles kissed her on the face.
In short, I report that the good girl Ada was saved by the doctors of the 2nd separate battalion of the DUK PS and a group of anonymous American volunteers and is now in bed and waiting for the arrival of veterinarians. At the same time, military surgeons took care of her master.
In general, army surgeons are a separate caste of people who deserve maximum respect, and I would not want the story about the dog to overshadow their work – unfortunately, they are critical of the media and do not give them the opportunity to glorify them as they deserve, but… there are no words. Here they collect people from such states of aggregation … and not a single day off, starting from the first day … “, writes Vladimir.
We admire the military and doctors who did not abandon the animal and saved his life.
