Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak told the details of the work of the Ukrainian team on security guarantees for Ukraine, and with which guarantor countries the state is currently working.
The Ukrainian side is actively consulting on security guarantees for the state in connection with a full-scale attack by Russia. Security guarantees should include sanctions mechanisms and the provision of modern weapons to Ukraine in the event of a new aggression.
Andriy Yermak, head of the President’s Office, spoke about this in an interview .
Thus, the main strategic partners of Ukraine, according to him, are the United States, Great Britain, France, Italy, Poland, the Baltic countries, the European Union in general, Japan, and other countries from all continents.
“They all support us in the fact that Ukraine must, unfortunately, in 30 years, receive clear, legally fixed guarantees of its security,” Yermak said.
According to him, consultations with partner countries continue constantly, at the level of both heads of state and national security advisers, as well as ministries of foreign affairs. Yermak says that security guarantees should include mechanisms for sanctions and the provision of modern weapons to Ukraine in the event of aggression. To a clarifying question about what will be in the package of guarantees and which countries and what they are ready to provide us with, he replied:
” Weapons is a rather complicated story, and it continues: search, coordination, and so on. Sanctions policy – in this part, the legislation of different countries is very different. Financial support, cybersecurity issues, intelligence sharing and much more … The next moment is sanctions This is being done by a serious group of Ukrainian, European and American experts, which we created with Michael McFaul. It is very important to analyze the already imposed sanctions, where and how they are managed, where they are only beautifully called, but do not really stop this war and leave the territory of Ukraine “If we see that the war continues, then the sanctions are not enough.”
The head of the President’s Office noted that the Ukrainian side wants the future agreements to go through the ratification procedure. The final format is still in the negotiation process.
“This system of guarantees is such a 911 service. When you clearly understand what, in what time frame and how it happens. And everyone understands this. And you have a clear understanding of what you get in the event of this threat. All this should be very clearly legally enshrined… Today we are looking to the future, so we must create a system that will exist for decades and guarantee that what we are experiencing will never happen again,” Andriy Yermak emphasized.
Recall, Kuleba said that Ukraine offered China to become one of the guarantors of security .
