It should be noted that this program will increase the supply of weapons and accelerate the pace of providing them to Ukraine.

This was announced by White House Speaker Jen Psaki on Friday, May 6, according to Voice of America journalist Ostap Yarysh.

Recall, on April 28, the US House of Representatives approved a bill on lend-lease for Ukraine. Before that, on April 7, the US Senate unanimously passed a bill to renew the World War II (Lend-Lease) program.

Lend-Lease: what is this program?

The lend-lease program is the assistance that the United States provided to the allies of the anti-Hitler coalition from 1941 to 1945. It can be translated from English as “to lend and rent” (Lend Lease). The United States then provided the countries of Europe with about $60 billion in aid. At current prices, this amount is 700 billion dollars.

Political consultant, head of the “Center for Military Legal Research” Oleksandr Musienk said that the lend-lease law has four main advantages for Ukraine:

• shortening the period for providing military assistance;
• the expansion of aid provided by the United States;
• assistance to Ukraine will become a priority in the US defense and security spheres;
• Ukraine in the future will be able to receive any weapon for which it will submit a request.

According to many experts, the implementation of this program will greatly simplify the bureaucratic delays in providing US assistance to Ukraine. After all, now any processes for the supply of weapons go through different American officials, which significantly slows down the whole process. For the United States itself, lend-lease is also useful. This program will have a positive impact on the American economy and raise the approval rating of President Joe Biden.
