Mayor of Kharkov Igor Terekhov appealed to all residents of the city with a request not to go to the Memorial of Glory on May 9th.
According to him, this is due to the risks that the Russian occupiers may try to strike at the Memorial. In order not to put himself in danger, Terekhov urged Kharkiv residents to stay at home on this day.
Terekhov said this exclusively in a comment to Channel 24.
“I want to ask you not to go to the Memorial on May 9. I know that this tradition has always been with us in Kharkov and the country, but given the cynicism of the aggressor, he can hit the memorial. Moreover, he has already been shot at repeatedly. So on May 9 remember all the liberators of Ukraine, who are pride for us, at home,” Terekhov stressed.
The mayor of Kharkov assured that after the victory over the Russian invaders, the Ukrainians will certainly have the opportunity to go to the Memorial of Glory and honor the memory of the heroes who fell in battles for their homeland.
“We will definitely go to the memorial together after the victory and we will definitely honor those people who defended Ukraine in that distant war against the fascist invaders and now against the Russian ones,” he concluded.
Recall that the Office of the President of Ukraine stated that the Kremlin decided to repeat the “performance” on May 9 in the blocked Ukrainian Mariupol eight years after the “parade of prisoners” in Donetsk. For this, in addition to prisoners of war, they plan to change into uniforms and civilians.
