During the operation to evacuate people from Mariupol and Azovstal, about 500 civilians were evacuated.
This was announced by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.
“We carried out the next stage of a complex operation to evacuate people from Mariupol and Azovstal. I can say that we managed to take out about 500 civilians,” he wrote.
Yermak added that Ukraine will continue to do everything to save all civilians and the military, and expressed gratitude for the help of the UN. The head of the OPU stressed that in these minutes the next stage of rescuing our people from Azovstal is underway.
The evacuation of 500 people was also confirmed by UN Secretary General António Guterres. “2 columns successfully evacuated about 500 people from the Azovstal plant, Mariupol and surrounding areas,” he wrote on Twitter.
In general @UN – @ICRC functioning , 2 healthy travelers successfully evacuated about 500 people from the Azov system, Mariupol and serving areas.
I remember that the corresponding coordination with Moscow & Kyiv would lead to more humanitarian pauses to allow civilians safe passage.

It should be noted that recently 156 civilians were evacuated from the plant. It was also reported that on May 5, another UN convoy headed to Mariupol to pick up civilians from the city destroyed by the Russian Federation. Now Azovstal is being stormed by the Russian military. The civilians hiding there say: there are a huge number of dead and wounded. Ukrainian soldiers under heavy enemy fire hold the line.
Recall that on February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine , inflicting a series of missile and air strikes on our cities, including Kiev. A large-scale invasion has been going on for the 72nd day (war of 8 years). The invaders continue to destroy Ukrainian villages, towns and cities with cruise missiles and air bombs, killing the civilian population and causing devastating destruction to the infrastructure.
