Frat Prime Minister Boris Johnson discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron on May 6 bilateral relations, aid to Ukraine and isolation of Russia.
Johnson and Macron unanimously condemned “Putin’s deadly stupidity” in unleashing the war. The presidents agreed to coordinate security issues and assistance to Ukraine, as well as measures to isolate Russia.
This was reported on the official website of the British government.
“The Prime Minister spoke about his visit to Kiev last month and shared his confidence that Ukraine will win if it is provided with the necessary military assistance. He called for refraining from any negotiations with Russia on terms that confirm the Kremlin’s false version of the invasion , but confirmed that this decision belongs to the Ukrainian government,” the statement reads.
Johnson and Macron also shared opinions about the impact of the war on global energy and food prices. The parties agreed at the G7 level to work on mitigating the consequences of the war on the economies of developing countries.
Recall that on May 3, Macron spoke for the first time with Russian President Vladimir Putin after a month-long break and after his re-election to the presidency. The French leader called on the Russian dictator to allow the evacuation of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, where civilians and wounded soldiers still remain, to continue.
