He lived a third of his life at Azovstal. His name is Svyat, now he is six months old and he was the youngest hostage of the Mariupol bunkers – he survived air strikes, shelling with rockets and artillery, did not go hungry just because adults looked for sugar in the ruins and mixed it into his milk.
The story of a very cheerful boy and his brave family on the air of “1 + 1”, the marathon “United News” was told by TSN correspondent Natalya Nagornaya.
For the first time in two months , Anna and her son slept together on a real, non-homemade bed, and even on white sheets. In Mariupol, they made foam beds that were very hard and bruised on the back. Anna jokes about herself – she became a TV star and homeless at the same time. Now they are in a hotel room on the banks of the Dnieper, and a few days before this interview I could not bring myself to believe that I would get out of the Azovstal bunker.
A young mother and her son with a blue-and-yellow dummy – people learned that they were among the survivors of the massive bombing of Mariupol from a video filmed by the Azov regiment.
Anya herself is 24 years old , she has lived all her life in Mariupol. She loves to sing, worked as a teacher of foreign languages. Their house on the left bank of the city, they say, burned down – there is so little left of the former life. Anya says that during her stay in the bunker she lost a dozen kilograms and was very afraid that the child would starve. Little Svyatoslav’s grandfather Oleg, in order for the family to survive, hunted for fuel and looked for food in the abandoned lockers of Azovstal workers.
Everything is new for Svyatoslav – he ate a banana for the first time, only now he saw spring from the window. They have a big journey and uncertainty ahead, but mom knows that now they will definitely cope.
It is worth noting that the city of Mariupol, which is 95% destroyed, has been under the blockade of Russian invaders since March 1, but the enemy is unable to take it completely under control.
Recall that on February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine , inflicting a series of missile and air strikes on our cities, including Kiev. The large-scale invasion has been going on for the 73rd day (war of 8 years). The occupiers continue to destroy Ukrainian villages, towns and cities with cruise missiles and air bombs, killing the civilian population and causing devastating destruction to the infrastructure.
