CIA director William Burns said that by watching the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, the Chinese authorities are drawing conclusions about their plans to seize Taiwan.
“It is clear that the Chinese leadership is trying to carefully identify the lessons they need to learn from Ukraine about their own ambitions in Taiwan,” Burns said.

The CIA chief added that the three-month results of Russia’s war against Ukraine have not undermined Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s intentions to gain control of Taiwan. But this affected, first of all, when the PRC authorities would be ready to implement their plan.
Note that China considers Taiwan a breakaway province and intends to return it to its composition.
Recall, on May 6, China launched 18 of its aircraft into the air defense zone of Taiwan . The air force of this state took to the air for protection.
Before that, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that a similar Ukrainian war could unfold in East Asia if the regional leaders do not act to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait .
