After a visit to Russian-destroyed Irpin, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in Kyiv and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky stressed that Canada is among the leaders in supporting Ukraine in the fight for democracy and freedom, and thanked Trudeau for helping the Ukrainian people.
He announced this on his Telegram page and posted a photo from a meeting with Trudeau.
“Canada is among the leaders in supporting Ukraine in the struggle for its own freedom. The fact that Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau is next to the Ukrainian people today means a lot to us. I believe that by joint efforts we will be able to overcome all challenges,” the Ukrainian president stressed.
The Canadian politician, commenting on his visit to Ukraine, noted that his country “will always stand side by side with Ukraine.”
I’m in Ukraine with @cafreeland and @melaniejoly today. We will communicate with us for Ukraine and its people. Your comment on President @ZelenskyyUa and Ukrainians is this: Canada will always stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. Most of all on our website.

During the visit, the Prime Minister of Canada once again raised his country’s flag over its diplomatic mission in the capital of Ukraine.
“This flag was lowered on February 13, and we are really happy to raise it again over the Canadian embassy. The ambassador is returning, the embassy will be open again. I think this is evidence of how strong and resilient the Ukrainians turned out to be, who were able to defend their city and continue to fight for their language, culture, identity and country. Having the Canadian flag flying again on the streets of Kiev is yet another symbol of the strength and solidarity of Canadians and Ukrainians and that we stay with them,” he said.
Recall that on Sunday, May 8, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Irpen, destroyed by the Russian Federation . He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Melanie Joly and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland. After what he saw, Trudeau was shocked by the destruction caused by Russian troops during the occupation.
