The Russian company Gazprom is trying to convince partners in Europe that they can pay for gas supplies without violating EU sanctions.
The company is looking for ways to supply gas.
Bloomberg writes about this, citing its own sources.
Gazprom wrote to its European customers to reassure them that they can continue to pay for gas without violating sanctions, indicating that Russia may be trying to find a way to keep gas supplies going.
In the letter, “Gazprom” referred to Putin’s decree of May 4, specifying the scheme of payments in rubles. It notes that the currency received from buyers is subject to exchange for rubles through accounts at the National Clearing Center of Russia.
Earlier it became known that ten companies in the European Union opened ruble accounts with Gazprombank.
At the same time, it has recently become known that Gazprom has completely suspended gas supplies to Bulgarian and Polish operators due to non-payment in rubles.
A Bloomberg source close to Gazprom said that at least until the second half of May, the Kremlin will not turn off other countries that refuse Putin’s conditions. At this time, the following payments must be made, on which the future of gas supplies to Europe will actually depend.
The European Commission has warned EU members that buying Russian gas for rubles is a violation of sanctions.
It should be noted that at present Russia supplies gas through pipelines to 23 European countries.
