Say that you are currently learning something completely new and very important and ask your child to help you remember this information.
We continue to teach children to recognize explosive objects.
This was reported on Facebook by UNICEF Ukraine.
How to talk to children on such an important topic?
- Choose a time when the child is not busy with a game or a cartoon.
- Say that you are currently learning something completely new and very important and ask your child to help you remember this information.
- In the picture you see a high-explosive anti-personnel mine. Show this picture to a child and ask if the child knows what it is. Say it’s a mine.
- At first, it is better to show an illustration, and next time you can show a real photo.
- Ask your child what this item is like.
- Listen to the child, share your options and say that although this reminds us of a beautiful butterfly, this is a very dangerous mine. It is small, about the size of a palm, and can be green or brown. This mine can explode if someone touches it, or even by itself – suddenly. Therefore, approaching such a bad “butterfly” is very dangerous. This mine can hide in the grass, near the bushes or under the house in those cities where there was a war. That is why you need to be very careful – do not approach, do not touch, carefully move away and report the find to one of the adults. They will call 101 and rescuers will certainly come to clear the mine and make the place safe again.
“Take care of yourself and your family!” the message says.
Recall that Estonia is sending a team of demining specialists to Ukraine , which will constantly help Ukrainian colleagues on a rotational basis. The team consists of 5 people with three cars. Periodically they will be replaced by other colleagues.
