In this review, we will talk about the GSX-2000 Schumann gaming headphones from HIPER. The device has a strict design, there is no backlight, but there are very mobile bowls and a flexible boom with a microphone. Plus, they don’t weigh that much. Although, let’s better talk about everything in order and let’s not rush.

The headphones under review are shipped in a purple cardboard box. I like minimalism, like on this box, because there is nothing superfluous. On the front side, you can see an image of the headset itself, the model name, company and a list of features.

On the back of the package, as usual, are the technical specifications of the device, which are completely written in Russian. In addition, there you can see compatibility information.

Inside the box, in addition to the headphones, you can find the instruction manual, which is also fully written in the language we can understand.

Appearance

The GSX-2000 Schumann is only sold in black. These headphones are fully consistent with classic gaming headsets, which have medium-sized cups and a long cable with remote control.

The wire is quite thin and there is no protective braid on it, but it is two hundred centimeters long with a USB-A interface at the end, thanks to which they can be connected not only to a computer, but also to some consoles. Now it may seem that the cable is very long, but in fact, when located on the couch in front of the TV, this is the very thing.

A noticeable controller (control panel) is located directly on the cable and not far from the bowl, approximately at a distance of 20 centimeters. The lowest keys (plus/minus) are responsible for adjusting the volume. By pressing once on any of them, the volume increases / decreases by 2 percent. For example, if you press the “volume up” button at a volume of 50%, then the total volume of the sound will become 52.

Thanks to the third button, you can completely turn off, or vice versa, turn on the microphone, and with the help of the last one, turn off the sound. A useful feature that, if something happens, will help get rid of harsh and noisy scenes not only in the game, but also when watching, for example, videos on YouTube. On the reverse side of the controller is the company logo.

In addition, there is a blue indicator on the control panel that informs about the operation of the headphones. If it blinks, it means that the headset is connected to the device. But if a red indicator lights up next to the blue indicator, this means that the microphone is turned off.

The microphone is located on a very flexible rod (left bowl). It can be given almost any shape. In the following photos, you can see a green mark on it, where you need to speak.

It is worth noting that the microphone is located not only on a flexible shaft, but at the same time on a swivel mechanism, thanks to which it can be raised if it is not needed. This hinge is adjustable within almost 180 °. The diaphragm is shielded with a windproof foam rubber filter. Unfortunately, it practically does not help in any way, so you can do without it.

The bowls themselves are set at some angle relative to the headband, which only adds to the convenience when using the headset. Implemented the ability to change the size of the headband on both sides.

The swivel mechanism for attaching the cups, although it allows you to fold the headset to a compact size, does not play or creak during normal use. At the place of attachment of each bowl on the outside, there are marks “R” and “L”.

The ear pads are made of artificial leather with a very soft filler, which provides comfort and good sound insulation. They are very pleasant to the touch and there is no discomfort when they come into contact with the head. I think this is also a very important factor.

The headband is made from the same materials as the soft ear pads. The overlay does not differ in any form, the size is typical, which should be enough for everyone.

These headphones have small, capable drivers that position game sounds well. For example, in a first-person shooter (Valorant), where, in principle, hearing the enemy is considered almost more important than seeing him, it is very convenient to play ahead of the curve with her, and during hot skirmishes in Outriders on Xbox, each individual sound is perfectly distinguishable, and explosions excite volume and depth.

In games with large, noisy open worlds like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Schumann’s GSX-2000 also performs surprisingly well. If you do not know in advance its configuration, it may seem that the headset uses Virtual Surround. At least in comparison with budget models with 7.1 support

As for the sound while listening to tracks, everything is far from being so smooth here. Yes, there are excellent basses and powerful speakers, but the balance is very lame, for example, at 100% volume you can notice a real mush in the sound. An equalizer can help in this situation, but it still does not work out to achieve some kind of ideal sound.

The reviewed headphones have good sound isolation. This is noticeable especially during games, because thanks to this you stop being distracted by any extraneous noise.

Microphone

Unfortunately, the microphone in this headset upset me very much, since it is very difficult for the interlocutors to make out my speech. I checked the microphone not only by recording on a voice recorder, but also in applications such as Discord and Telegram. But! I want to clarify the moment that it turns out that the problem with the microphone is in this instance, because after listening to the work of the microphone in other reviews, I realized that this is the problem. Yes, and in the reviews I did not see anyone complaining about the operation of the headset.

Conclusion

HIPER GSX-2000 Schumann turned out to be very good. I would even like to call them excellent for their price, but, unfortunately, in my case, the headphones came with a bad microphone. What I also liked was the solid construction, nice materials that are used in the assembly and its light weight. We have already talked about the sound, there are no special claims here.
