Russian invaders carry out targeted shelling of medical institutions and medical transport, violating the right to life and health of Ukrainians.
As a result of enemy shelling by invaders in Ukraine, 10 doctors were killed, about 500 hospitals were damaged, 40 medical facilities were destroyed and cannot be restored.
This was reported by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.
She also stressed that international humanitarian law prohibits attacks against medical personnel and facilities during armed conflicts.
“Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of August 12, 1949; Convention for the Amelioration of the Fate of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field of August 12, 1949; Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949, concerning the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts ( Protocol I) establishes strict requirements for the protection of medical personnel, medical transport and medical institutions,” Denisova said.
Recall that illegal mobilization into the ranks of the Russian army continues in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
