The solemn opening ceremony of the international song contest “Eurovision-2022” is taking place in Turin.
Today, representatives of 40 countries pose on the turquoise lanes and give short interviews. The seventh representatives of Ukraine appeared before the public – the Kalush Orchestra group.
The contenders and Eurofans greeted the team with loud applause and shouts of “Glory to Ukraine”.
The musicians dressed up in discreet black suits adorned with small yellow and blue flags. Participants also held flags in their hands.
Interestingly, the host of the ceremony addressed the group in Ukrainian: “Welcome to the Eurovision Song Contest.
For her part, the presenter asked how important it is for the group to mix modern music with folk music.
“This is the concept of our group, which we had a long time ago. And right now we understand how important it is to raise our old culture and combine it with a new one. That is why now it is so interesting to people all over the world,” commented Oleg Psyuk.
The presenters also drew attention to the coincidence that the presentation of the competition takes place on Mother’s Day and the song Kalush Orchestra Stefania is also about mother.
In response to this, Psyuk advised everyone to turn on Stefania today for their mothers: “This song was dedicated to my mother a long time ago … But today is Mother’s Day, so I recommend everyone to congratulate their mothers and turn on our song to them.”
Finally, the host again addressed the group in Ukrainian: “Good luck!”.
Recall that representatives of 40 countries will perform at Eurovision this year. So, Armenia returned, which last year refused to participate due to the not very favorable situation in the country and the political crisis. Montenegro will also compete for victory in the song contest. The country did not go to Eurovision for two years due to financial difficulties.
But Belarus will not be again. The European Language Union (EBU) has decided to suspend the country’s membership.
The EBU also suspended Russia from further participation in Eurovision. The executive board of the competition made such a decision after the invasion of the aggressor country into Ukraine.
