The Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated from Popasna to more fortified positions, which were prepared in advance.
Serhiy Gaidai, head of the Luhansk regional military administration, announced this on the air of the information telethon on May 8.
“Unfortunately, our troops really retreated a little from Popasna, because the city was shelled for more than two months. There are bombs, and rockets, and mines, and artillery. Everything is completely destroyed there. Therefore, ours retreated to stronger positions that were prepared in advance” , – he said.
Gaidai also noted that heavy fighting is now continuing in the direction of Severodonetsk-Voevodovka, as well as in the territory of the Mountain Community, which includes such settlements as Toshkovka, Yekaterinovka and Zolote-4.
Recall that on February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine , inflicting a series of missile and air strikes on our cities, including Kiev. The large-scale invasion has been going on for the 74th day (war of 8 years). The occupiers continue to destroy Ukrainian villages, towns and cities with cruise missiles and air bombs, killing the civilian population and causing devastating destruction to the infrastructure.
