Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with President of the European Council Charles Michel, who is in Odesa on a visit.
Zelensky noted that he “appreciates the bold position of the head of the European Council to visit Ukraine at such times,” and also thanked for the constant support of Ukraine from the EU.
The head of state announced this on his Telegram page.
“I talked with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, who visited Odessa. It is important to prevent a food crisis in the world caused by the aggressive actions of Russia. It is necessary to take immediate measures to unblock Ukrainian ports for the export of wheat. I appreciate the courageous position of the President of the European Council and his Odessa. Grateful for continued support for our country from the EU in many areas,” Zelensky wrote.
Recall, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, arrived in Odessa on May 9 to celebrate Europe Day. There he met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal. “I came to celebrate Europe Day in Odessa, the city where Pushkin said that “you can feel Europe”. And where today the Ukrainian people defend their monuments from bullets and rockets and their freedom from Russian aggression. You are not alone. The EU supports you”, he wrote on his Twitter page.
