Good morning, dear visitors of “Live”. And first, I would like to congratulate everyone who celebrates Victory Day! Today I will continue to “dig” into the very, very bottoms of the watch, and for this I will have to get a Roxar watch.

And I, as always, will try to explain why I so insistently want to draw your attention to them.

What kind of watch is this Roxar?

Well, we must admit that in our understanding Roxar is not a watch at all, in its essence. This is a domestic private label brand, which has no outstanding features other than the price: it is extremely low – on average, up to 5,000 rubles. Some watches use ceramics for this money!

Such watches do not have any history, they do not represent any design value, they can boast of prestigious materials – far from always. Time, however, show, of course.

I would not even say that such watches want to occupy a niche in the watch community: they are distributed mainly through marketplaces and budget accessories stores, such as OZON, WB, Market , Kavaino and so on.

But for me, they turned out to be remarkable for one striking feature, and in general, now I think that Roxar is a very conscientious PTM watch in terms of quality and price.

Packaging and appearance

Well, as Leo Tolstoy said: all bad watches are equally bad, but all Russian private labels collected in China are curious in their own way; and Roxar are good because they are quite honest watches, which, depending on the price (the watch from the review cost 2,000 rubles or more), tend to give the maximum for their money.

Good solid box with a large logo. It has one drawback: it is a “pull-out” type, so that in a vertical position, the watch compartment can simply fall out, but nothing: I figured out how it works pretty quickly, and the watch is intact.

In general, the passion for the logo for watches of this price looks unusual: it is repeated almost more times than the Swiss. It is on the crown.

Of course, there is it both under glass and on a strap, which, by the way, is made of genuine leather. Genuine leather probably compensates for the non-steel case here: only the back cover is made of stainless steel in this model.

The watch is protected from water at a level of 50 meters, has a case diameter of 43 mm along the bezel, which is a bit large for me, of course. The lid is screwed, there is a rubber gasket.

Watch design and assembly

If we talk about the Roxar brand as a whole, then I would not call the designs impressive, somewhere there are literally homages, somewhere just super-simple cases and dials. Specific watches look very good against the general background. The case itself is in a sense “curly”, the ribs have such designer “growths”:

The glass is interesting. It is not convex, but has cuts, and these cuts give a distortion of the dial, but this does not affect the perception, which seems quite thought out. The Chinese can do it when they want to.

The style of the watch itself is rather “none”. It is not a classic, and not modernity, and not a grand weekend, and not a sport. Ordinary watch with classic button-down hands and day-date complication. At the same time, I can’t help but add that everything was done quite well, the arrows and marks are polished, nothing extra sticks out anywhere, I didn’t notice any smudges of glue or paint.

The dial itself is sectoral, which is also an impressive decision for two thousand rubles.

Watch mechanism

Finally, we come to the most curious. Obviously, the most common movement is installed in the watch – the Japanese Miyota. Here it is a quartz caliber 2405. This is really not bad, because there are not so few Chinese movements in the budget suitable for this watch. Here inside is a standard “unadjusted” version with a passport accuracy of up to +20 seconds per month. This caliber operates three hands and provides a day-date complication at 3 o’clock.

And here is what is most curious, and, in my opinion, the most valuable thing about this watch: this is the fact that Roxar thought about translating the movement into Russian .

Russian calendar

Yes, yes, one of the most inconspicuous, unpopular, unknown and cheap watch brands has Russian days of the week.

I’ll try to explain why this bothers me so much.

Since the Russian calendar is perhaps only my “thing”, I want to briefly explain why I grabbed onto Roxar so much. Strictly speaking, I even dedicated a video on the channel to this problem .

So, it always seemed strange to me when I saw watches with a day-date complication that the calendars that are put in watches for our market do not have the Russian language. This is not a matter of understanding, perception, it is a matter of ethics on the one hand, I guess. On the other hand … Well, after all, manufacturers translate instructions according to the law, labels must be in the language of the country. But on such a detail – everyone scores for some reason.

Perhaps this problem does not exist? We understand everything, right? But I have several day-to-date clocks, and there are second languages in there. There is even a Swiss watch for the Chinese market, and there is a Chinese calendar! Kind of like it’s logical.

At one time I was puzzled by this question, and here’s the thing:

In fact, today, there are no modern watches with a Russian calendar in the mass. The monopoly on the Russian days of the week today is entirely with the Slava brand, which reissued retro calibers. Russian days of the week are found both in budget watches “Slava”, and in expensive limited editions, such as “Sadko”, “Era”, “TV” and so on. There are retro watches, mostly Soviet, of course. But there are no fresh hours.

And, it was almost always like that. At one time, the author of Hodinkee found an Omega with a Russian calendar: this is a one- piece exclusive version , created as a token of gratitude to cosmonaut Leonov. Rolex made a small batch of Full-Days with 26 languages, which you will not find by day with fire, of course. The author of the Getat.ru blog found Orient 3 stars with Russian days, but now…

And then I meet a small brand that obviously does not claim a special place in history, and it was not too lazy, ordered a batch of calibers, ordered translation and made “Russian watches” for Russia. It is hardworking, logical, attentive, and it is this small detail that determined the topic of today’s review.

The calendar here, as you may have noted, is also bilingual, the traditional Latin alphabet has not gone away, but the second language is Russian, which is very conscientious, because I have not seen this in other domestic private labels until now.
