The Ministry of Internal Affairs commented on the attack on the Russian ambassador, who, while laying flowers at the monument to Soviet soldiers in Warsaw, was doused with red paint and thrown underpants.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the emotions of Ukrainian women who fled to Poland because of the war unleashed by Russia and supported by the Russians are understandable. However, they added that the protest action in the capital of Poland against war crimes by the Russian occupiers was legal.
This was announced by the Minister of the Interior of Poland Mariusz Kaminsky on Twitter.
“The gathering of opponents of Russian aggression against Ukraine, where the crime of genocide is committed daily, was legal. The emotions of the Ukrainian women participating in the demonstration, whose men fight courageously in defense of their native land, are understandable. The Polish authorities did not recommend the Russian ambassador to lay flowers on May 9 in Warsaw,” – he wrote.
After the incident, the Polish police allowed the Russian ambassador to safely leave the scene.
Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said that the dousing of the Russian ambassador to Poland with artificial blood on May 9 is “an incident that will certainly cause regret” and that this event should not have happened.
“The event that took place today during the laying of wreaths by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation at the graves of the dead Soviet soldiers is an incident that should not have happened, an incident that is certainly unfortunate. Diplomats enjoy special protection, regardless of the policy pursued by them” Rau said.
Recall that on May 9, in Poland, the Russian ambassador was doused with red paint when he was going to lay flowers at the monument to Soviet soldiers in Warsaw. During this, people shouted the words “fascists” and “Putin x ** lo” .
