More than two months have passed since the full-scale war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine. And now in many cities and villages of the country, even where there are no active hostilities, there are shortages of fuel. TSN.ua tells what alternatives can be used to refuel a car if you really need to go somewhere.

It should be noted that all the fuels below are not designed for use in cars , so they are likely to damage the engine . But if there are such circumstances that you need to leave the danger zone, but there is no fuel, such a risk will be justified .
What can be used instead of standard diesel fuel
Diesel engines can run on more than just diesel fuel. You can also use different types of oils. Especially if your car has an old diesel engine with a mechanical pump. In this case, you can pour into the tank:
- transformer grease;
- Coconut oil;
- turpentine;
- old (cleaned) grease from internal combustion engines.
If the selected fuel is too thick, it should be thinned with gasoline or thinner.
What is suitable for a gasoline engine
A gasoline internal combustion engine can also run on:
- methanol;
- ethanol;
- alcohol;
- Kalosh gasoline (solvent gasoline).
It is best to mix all these types of fuel with regular gasoline. For a gasoline engine, it will not be possible to use vodka or other alcoholic beverages, because they have a low percentage of alcohol.
What else can a gas-powered car drive?
Propane-butane gasused in cars is really no different from household gas (in cylinders). The biggest problem here is in the process of refueling the car itself. Here you need to gut a household gas reducer connected to a household gas cylinder, and connect it to the auto gas line, everything should work out.
