Saint Jason was born in Thessalonica and had his home there. There the apostle Paul himself stayed with him with the Force. When the apostles Jason and Sosipater came to the island of Corfu, preaching the faith of Christ, they erected a church here and named it in honor of St. Stephen. For this, God glorified them with miracles. However, the pagans threw Jason and Sosipater into prison for preaching. There they converted seven criminals to the faith of Christ (Yakishola, Satornia, Januaria, Faustian, Euphrosia, Marsalia, Mamia). For this, the pagans ordered the criminals to be thrown into a boiling cauldron, where there was sulfur, tar and wax. They gave their souls for the Lord. Together with them, the watchman, who converted during their sermons in prison, also suffered. He was ordered to be quartered, and then his head was cut off.

Then the turn came to the apostles Jason and Sosipater themselves. They were tormented very hard, but they endured all the tortures with courage, pleading and glorifying the Lord God. Seeing their torment, many converted to the Christian faith, among them the daughter of the tormentor Kerkyra. For this, the torturer ordered his own daughter to be overlaid with firewood and set on fire, but the holy virgin remained alive. Then they hung her on a tree, crushed her first with smoke, and later finished off with arrows.

For some time the apostles Sosipater and Jason were in prison, where they preached the Word of God among the pagans. They later became Christians. And the tormentor went by sea to a neighboring island, but crashed along the way. Then the apostles were released from prison, and they began to teach the people.

But suddenly a new headman came and ordered Jason and Sosipater to be seized and then thrown into boiling tar. However, God cooled the fire and the apostles remained healthy. The tormentor saw this miracle and believed in Jesus Christ. He fell at the feet of the saints, and they christened him and gave him a new name, Sebastian (which means “honest.” The saints died at a ripe old age).
