Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed an investigation against former MP Ilya Kiva for anti-Ukrainian actions. On May 10, 2022, the indictment was sent to court.

This is reported in the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

Kiva called for a violent change of power, encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. He is accused of treason and propaganda of war (part 3 of article 109, part 3 of article 110, part 1 of article 111, article 436, part 2 of article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

“The investigation established that the former people’s deputy, while on the territory of the aggressor state, took part in one of the propaganda shows on Russian television. He publicly called on the top leadership of the Russian Federation to forcibly change the constitutional order and seize state power in Ukraine. The suspect offered to physically eliminate the President Ukraine and other state officials, and also publicly called for an aggressive war on the territory of our country,” the Office of the Prosecutor General said in a statement.

The accused faces a sentence of imprisonment for up to 15 years with confiscation of property.

For pro-Russian statements and actions, Ilya Kiva was deprived of the mandate of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine , and he himself fled abroad and may be in Russia, where he attends propaganda TV shows. Ukraine put Kiva on the international wanted list .
