French President Emmanuel Macron and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed the situation in Ukraine and a number of other issues in a telephone conversation.

The heads of the two states recalled their commitment to respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and agreed on the need to achieve a ceasefire.
Both leaders also stressed the need to support all efforts aimed at providing humanitarian support to the people of Ukraine.
In addition, the risk of a food crisis and the response to it proposed by France in the form of the FARM initiative (Mission for Food and Agriculture Resilience) were discussed.
During France’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Macron insisted on the importance of progress in rebalancing European-Chinese relations towards greater reciprocity.
The French President urged China to support and pursue a policy of openness, especially in the agri-food sector.
The heads of the two states agreed to deepen bilateral projects in the field of aeronautics and civil nuclear energy.
The North Korean crisis was also discussed in order to coordinate the efforts of both countries.
The Elysee Palace adds that the head of China congratulated Macron on his re-election as president and expressed his desire to continue deepening the bilateral strategic partnership.

At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Ukraine’s accession to the EU could take a decade. He proposed the creation of a ” new organization of the European political community ” that could take over Ukraine.
