Russian invaders stole a collection of Scythian gold in Melitopol – prosecutor's office

Russian invaders from the temporarily captured Melitopol, Zaporozhye region, stole a collection of Scythian gold.

The Russian Federation also removed other exhibits stored there from the museum .

This was reported in the Office of the Attorney General.

“In April 2022, the military and representatives of the occupation administration of the aggressor state stole historical and cultural values from the Melitopol Museum of Local Lore. According to preliminary data, among the stolen property was a collection of Scythian gold,” the report says.

On the fact of the theft of museum exhibits, the prosecutor’s office opened proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the SBU Department in the Zaporozhye region,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

Recall that the Russians fired on the museum of Grigory Skovoroda in Skovorodinovka. The shell hit the roof of the building. On the territory there was a 35-year-old man who looked after the museum, he, unfortunately, was injured. The premises are practically destroyed.
