The operation to release the Ukrainian military from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol requires the efforts of a significant number of troops and can lead to significant losses.
However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are doing everything possible to make it possible to release the defenders of Mariupol .
This was announced by Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexei Gromov and Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar at a briefing on May 11.
“Today, the deblocking operation requires the efforts of a significant number of troops, since the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located at a distance of 150 to 200 km from Mariupol . The enemy has also created an extensive system of engineering fences and defense lines, which will lead to significant losses on the part of our troops “, Gromov explained.
At the same time, he reported maintaining contact with units of the defense forces that hold positions in Mariupol.
In turn, Malyar said that “if there was at least one opportunity to de-blockade by military means, it would be used by the country’s leadership.”
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine today are doing everything possible to make such an opportunity appear in the visible future, so that it happens as quickly as possible,” the deputy minister assured.
Recall, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk called on the world community to join the evacuation of seriously wounded soldiers from Azovstal.
