Russian President Vladimir Putin is stymied by the strategic catastrophe of his war, Ukraine’s heroic resistance, and the Union’s emergency multi-billion dollar arms and ammunition pipeline. Putin’s only way out is capitulation.
Reflecting on the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, once warned that nuclear states “should turn away those confrontations that present the enemy with the choice of humiliating retreat or nuclear war.”
CNN writes about it.
The conflict with Russian President Vladimir Putin over Ukraine does not yet reflect the one-minute-to-midnight limit that brought the Soviet Union and the West to the border of Armageddon in October 1962.
But Kennedy’s superpower logic rings sharp when Putin is cornered by the strategic catastrophe of his war , Ukraine’s heroic resistance, and the Union’s emergency multi-billion dollar arms and ammunition pipeline.
It added that this aggressive Western approach, the slow progress of Putin’s war of attrition and the lack of any diplomatic effort to end the fighting meant that the Russian president would almost certainly be in a dangerous corner.
Putin’s only exit is capitulation and a tacit admission that Western efforts, combined with fierce Ukrainian courage, have gotten the better of him, a position that would be politically impossible to accept.
Note that when talking about the “limit one minute before midnight,” the publication means the indicators of the Doomsday Clock. This is a project that has been run by the American journal Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists since 1947. The clock shows a symbolic time that delimits humanity from the day of the global man-made catastrophe – Armageddon (time until midnight).
Recall, according to military expert Oleg Zhdanov, Russia does not intend to drag out the war in Ukraine, since it is running out of weapons.
