Recently, the first semi-final of the Eurovision 2022 international song contest took place, and today, May 12, the second one will die down.
However, the attention of the participants is riveted not only to the competition. This year, almost every artist supports Ukraine, which is heroically defending itself from Russian invaders.
Participants from different countries come to celebrations with blue and yellow flags, express words of support to Ukrainians, shout “Glory to Ukraine” and all together sing the Kalush Orchestra’s song – Stefania.

The EBU Executive Board, in the light of the events that continue in Ukraine, suspended Russia from participating in Eurovision and banned the Russian delegation from coming to the contest. In general, the suspension of the membership of the Russian Federation will continue until the political regime in the country changes, which hostilely unleashed a war in Ukraine.
Kalush Orchestra performance in the first semi-final
When Ukrainians performed on the stage, it was loud in the hall. Everyone supported the Kalush Orchestra. Many were holding blue and yellow flags. After the performance of the Kalush Orchestra, the audience in the hall applauded loudly and for a long time to our participants. And Oleg Psyuk himself at the end of his speech thanked everyone for supporting Ukraine.
By the way, in the semi-finals, the representatives of Latvia raised the blue-yellow banner. During the announcement of the results of the competition, the representatives of Lithuania and Iceland held the flags of Ukraine. And the representative of Iceland took the stage with a drawing on her hand in the form of a blue and yellow flag.
Words of support for Ukraine
The representative of Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 Monika Liu supported Ukraine. The artist spoke during a press conference that took place after the first semi-final. At first, the singer joked and was glad that she had gone further. And at the end of her speech, she spoke about the war in Ukraine and called on European fans and participants to support our country, and ended her speech by saying “Glory to Ukraine.” And even earlier, she sang together with the Kalush Orchestra “Oh, in the puddle of red viburnum.”
The representative of Israel said that his mother is from Ukraine, and his relatives live in Kyiv. Therefore, he is very supportive of the Ukrainians. At the same time, he wants Ukraine to defeat Russia and rebuild the country as soon as possible.
But a member of the Icelandic group Systur supported Ukraine on the turquoise sidewalk, she came out with a yellow-blue flag. During the interview, she said that she loves Ukrainians with all her heart.
Representatives of the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Greece, Spain – they all expressed words of support and wished the Ukrainians more strength to protect the country from the invaders.
They sang the contest song Kalush Orchestra – Stefania
By the way, participants from different countries quite often sing the song Kalush Orchestra – Stefania. Already 13 representatives sang the lines “Stephania mother, mother Stephania, the field blooms, and she is blue.” Among them is the Finnish rock band The Rasmus. The rockers liked the music of the Kalush Orchestra so much that they would not mind releasing some kind of duet song with the Ukrainians. And the representative at Eurovision 2022 from Poland, Ohman, has almost completely memorized the lines of the song.
Kalush Orchestra gives Ukrainian honey to the participants in gratitude
The musicians are very grateful to everyone for the support of Ukraine. They do not stand aside and make small gifts to the participants. In particular, they give honey, which is made in Ukraine.
“We want to treat our comrades so that they feel the real power of healing Ukrainian honey,” the musicians say.
Recall that the final of Eurovision 2022 will be held on May 14. It is then that it will become known who will become the winner in the international song contest.
