Garden parties at Buckingham Palace are reopening their doors to guests. Yesterday, the first guests there were welcomed by Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall.
Previously, before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, such parties were held in the gardens of Buckingham Palace every year in May and June. They were personally visited by Queen Elizabeth II.
There was an official announcement recently that the monarch would no longer be attending such events, like many others, due to mobility issues. But the rest of the family will willingly replace her.
At yesterday’s party, in addition to Charles and Camilla , Princess Anne, the Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent were also present. The weather was rainy, so the ladies had to take umbrellas with them.
The parties will take place in the year of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and are held for guests in recognition of their positive contribution to society across the UK.
