Yesterday, May 11, Washington hosted the annual award ceremony “For Outstanding Leadership” from the Atlantic Council of the United States. The award is given to outstanding personalities in politics, business and culture who fight for the values of the transatlantic relationship and shape a common global future.
Jamala received the award in the category “Great Leadership Artist”. She was awarded for her influence, support for Ukrainian refugees and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The singer received the award from the hands of business leader, executive vice head of the Atlantic Council Adrienne Arsht.
Jah was dressed in a beautiful black embroidered shirt.
“I accepted the award on behalf of all Ukrainian artists who use their voice to speak about the crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine. Every day they bring the truth and increase support for our country, protect our culture and demonstrate its uniqueness. This is our common struggle and our common small victory,” the singer said.
In addition, the Atlantic Council noted with a special award the Ukrainian people, who, against the backdrop of the Russian invasion, showed extraordinary courage and fearlessness.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during an online inclusion during the ceremony, personally thanked the organizers of the award. After a moment of silence, he remembered the brave Ukrainians who sacrificed their lives for the future of Ukraine.
Recall that Jamala is selling at auction her luxurious embroidered dress , in which she opened Eurovision 2017 in Kiev. The dress was created by Ukrainian designer Yulia Magdych . All funds raised will go to the Yellow-Blue Foundation, a charitable organization that supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians affected by the war.
