Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, explained why Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not board an American plane and leave Ukraine when the Russian Federation attacked the state on a full scale.
On the first day of Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine, February 24, when the first skirmishes of saboteurs began, the guards offered the president Vladimir Zelensky to think about evacuation routes, but he refused, saying that he would remain in Kiev.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, spoke about this in a conversation with 1 + 1 host Natalia Moseychuk.
“When the first shootouts of saboteurs began, the guards suggested that the president think about evacuation routes. He refuses. He says that he will stay. They brought bulletproof vests to everyone. They report: battle, shelling, they went to Obolon, they went to Pobedy Avenue … The presidential security service is working. Western partners and offer to move to another shelter, but the president refused,” Arestovich said.
When asked if the adviser imagined a battle for each office of the President’s Office, Arestovich replied that he had been thinking for 24 hours that everyone would die.
“I just knew the real situation. I was 98% sure that this time we would not be saved. I also asked myself the question: where will world history go after we all lie down here. People who understand military issues, they say that “Mr. President, personal heroism is good, but …” To which the President says: no, I will not go. Western partners call again and say that they will help evacuate him to a place where he can lead the confrontation He again refused. He said: “We are standing. If necessary, we die. “It happened when everyone who understands military issues was sure that we would not stay alive,” Arestovich said.
We will remind, earlier Zelensky said how many attempts were made on him and why he was scared.
