Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, is convinced that Russia’s threats to strike Finland and Sweden have nothing to do with reality.
Russia has nothing to attack the Finns and Swedes after these countries join the North Atlantic Alliance.
Arestovich stated this in a conversation with Russian journalist and human rights activist Mark Feygin on May 12.
“This construction consists of two things. The first is Moscow’s illusion that someone is putting pressure on it (and NATO is not putting pressure on Moscow), and the second point is that there is nothing to answer. In that direction was the Red Banner Sixth Army, which lay down all over Ukraine , and the commanders, who were removed and almost sent to court. It is not clear what to threaten there. 2 thousand or how many borders of Finland with Russia are there, I see no options. According to some reports, even South Ossetia is already sending Russia to hell with its with proposals to send a little troops. Therefore, soon everyone will begin to send the Kremlin, because there is nothing to be afraid of. Even if the Kremlin wants to proudly take revenge, the question will follow: “What for? Who will go to dictate the will of the Kremlin?” he said.
Recall that Finland and Sweden are planning to apply for NATO membership. Finland has already officially announced its intention to join NATO .
