In Mariupol, Russian invaders killed Ukrainian ex-boxer and judge Aleksey Kupyrev.
The life of 46-year-old Aleksey Kupyrev was tragically cut short as a result of the terrible bombing of Mariupol by Russian invaders.
This was announced by the ex-president of the Boxing Federation of Donetsk region Dmitry Eliseev.
According to him, Kupyrev died on March 8, 2022. An enemy projectile flew into the apartment of the former boxer, who later worked as a referee. Alexei did not survive.
Kupyrev lived with his family in a multi-storey building. When the full-scale war began, he and his family hid from the bombs in the basement. However, at one point, Alexey left the shelter and went up to the apartment – it was at that moment that a shell hit the house, which killed him.
Note that Kupyrev was the European boxing champion among youth. After completing his boxing career, he worked as a referee and received an IBA license.
Earlier, TSN Prosport reported that the Ukrainian champion of the 2020 Paralympics in swimming died at the age of 33.
