The Russian military continues to use the Ukrainian air base near the temporarily occupied Melitopol.
The use of this air base is of strategic importance, since it is located between the temporarily occupied Kherson, Mariupol and parts of the CADO.
This is evidenced by satellite images from BlackSky obtained by CNN.
A satellite image taken on May 12 at 15:58 local time shows at least seven helicopters at the airbase. The satellite image from May 7 at 6:02 am shows only one helicopter.
In late March, Ukrainian troops successfully shelled the airport, blowing up a number of Russian military helicopters. As a result of this successful Ukrainian military strike, the Russian military had to largely abandon the airport as a base for their aircraft.
Earlier it became known that the Russian occupiers created four military bases on the territory of the temporarily occupied Melitopol.
