The government of Ukraine plans to achieve complete energy independence in order to provide 100% of its own needs.
First of all, we are talking about a significant increase in our own gas production .
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal.
“We have proven that we are able not only to independently provide ourselves with electricity, but also to export it to Europe. This is especially true after the Ukrainian energy system joins the European ENTSO-E,” says Shmygal.
The Prime Minister notes that recently the Ukrainian state enterprise “Ukrhydroenergo” has started exporting electricity to Moldova.
“There are also plans to resume the operation of additional power lines with Poland for the export of Ukrainian nuclear energy. This will contribute to Europe’s faster refusal of Russian gas,” says Shmigal.
According to him, Ukraine has not only forever disconnected from the energy system with Russia and Belarus, but also forever got rid of dependence on their oil products.
“Of course, this is not easy for our market. But the government works every day to ensure that there is enough fuel in Ukraine,” the head of government stressed.
Recall that the issue of introducing an oil embargo against Russia , included in the sixth EU sanctions package, is already close. As Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba noted, European countries are hard at work on resolving the gas issue.
