Germany is ready to refuse Hungary’s participation in the ban on the import of Russian oil to the European Union.
Germany is ready to withdraw Hungary ‘s participation in order to speed up the ban on oil imports from Russia.
This was stated by German Economy Minister Robert Haback, writes USNews.
He also stressed that he is disappointed that the EU has not yet agreed to an oil embargo against Russia.
“If the President of the European Commission says that we are doing it as 26 countries, without Hungary, then I always support this way,” he said.
“But I haven’t heard that from the EU yet,” he added.
Among the 27 EU member states, Hungary is the main critic of the planned embargo on Russian oil.
Recall that the European Union cannot introduce the sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, since several countries are against it, among them Hungary. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijarto said that his country is ready to unblock the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia only when it is offered an investment plan of 15-18 billion euros from the European Commission.
