Recently, in the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, a request has arisen to create a large video hosting service that could become an alternative to YouTube. And if in the case of RuTube the attempt was not the most successful, then the VK Video platform looks much more ambitious. During the Russian Internet Forum (RIF), Vladimir Kiriyenko, CEO of VK (former Mail.Ru Group), stated that the project was “moving towards a model close to YouTube.” Moreover, before the end of the year, a separate mobile application will be released, and VK will enter into partnerships with large independent services. By the way, already now VK has several dedicated applications for different tasks: VK Messenger and VK Clips, which are analogues of Telegram and TikTok.
