Ukrainian refugees will be able to exchange cash into euros without a commission for the exchange.
From May 24, Ukrainian refugees in Germany can exchange cash hryvnia for euros. The exchange scheme will continue for three months.
This is reported by the Central Bank of Germany.
This is part of an exchange program agreed by the Ministry of Finance in Berlin, the central banks of Germany and Ukraine, and the German Banking Industry Committee.
Thus, adult citizens of Ukraine can convert 10,000 hryvnia per person into euros at a German credit institution participating in the program.
Banknotes of 100, 200, 500 and 1000 hryvnias participating in the program are accepted at the current exchange rate.
The exchange will be registered on the online application to ensure that the individual maximum exchange amount is not exceeded, the ministry said.
“The face of every adult who wishes to participate in the exchange is registered and verified. Data protection is guaranteed,” the statement said.
The exchange rate at which the Bundesbank buys hryvnias from credit institutions and subsequently uses them when returning to the National Bank of Ukraine will be published every Friday at 14:00 on the bank’s website.
