In Hungary, from 00:00 on Wednesday, May 25, a state of emergency is introduced. Prime Minister Viktor Orban explained this decision as a threat due to the war between Ukraine and Russia.
This decision was made immediately after the new Hungarian government took the oath.
It is reported by Hirado.hu.
“We have not lost a moment because there is a war nearby. This war poses a constant threat to Hungary, endangers our physical security, and also endangers the energy supply and financial security of the economy and families. We see that the war and sanctions in Brussels led to a huge economic shock and a sharp rise in prices,” Orban said.
He stressed that the world is on the verge of an economic crisis, and Hungary must stay away from this war and protect the financial security of their families. According to the prime minister, this requires room for maneuver and immediate action.
“The government is exercising its right, according to the Basic Law, to declare a state of emergency today from midnight. Like the state of emergency introduced during the epidemic, this will allow the government to immediately respond and protect Hungary and Hungarian families with all possible means,” Orban said.
He added that he would inform about the first decisions on May 25.
Recall that in mid-May, Orban advocated the creation of the strongest Hungarian army, since, in his opinion, NATO would not be able to protect Budapest.
